Vince Zampella, who helped create the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in the state of California he was 55 years old.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The celebrated industry figure lost his life when his car crashed and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, as reported by.

"This is an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
