That Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Lingers Fans

Among every mature cartoon movies I have ever viewed, no other has lingered in my mind as much as the dread-soaked finale of a explicitly bloody and overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, this Spanish filmmaker developed a dark, bleak and often savage world that included some tiny , forlorn hints of hope.

Although The Unicorn Wars seems like it originated from an impulse to expand the medium further, the director clarified that it was actually a try to express a widespread, cross-cultural message about “the common origin of each battle.”

That message is conveyed via a group of brightly hued teddy bears , openly inspired by a well-known series of cuddly characters.

Growing up in a society built around militarism as well as the defense industry, many of these animals are obsessed with slaughtering the mythical beasts, because of a holy book that claims them they were once kings of the forest, before the unicorns expelled them.

Some did not entirely accepted the brainwashing, and choose to try out substances and mate in the forest.

Unlike their friendly counterparts, these vivid animals have visible sexual organs and clear sex drives.

For a particular particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, the bear named Bluey, the war against unicorns turns into a route to control — and specifically to supremacy above his softer, nicer brother the character Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor and an obvious antisocial figure , and while terror takes over his squad and takes his teammates individually, he grabs more and more control on his own behalf, through ever more violent, damaging approaches.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are experiencing their own nightmare, in the form of an expanding, harmful creature in their habitat.

“In the early stages, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the director commented. “Yet it becomes a more serious and melancholic film. And in the finale, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars commences similar to among the playful films by a legendary filmmaker, that uncover a mischievous joy in letting cartoon characters swear, fire weapons, or have intimate relations.

Then it becomes more akin to a more grim movie from the same artist, with increasingly visual gore and a noticeable connection to the real tragedy of conflict.

By the end, it is a full-on extreme drama bloodbath.

The terror that turns the film an ideal spooky-season viewing starts well before than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who want to see a film they haven’t ever watched previously, and who can handle a narrative that pulls unflinching brutality.

See it in a dark room without any distractions, and the conclusion will crawl under your skin and take up residence there.
