🔗 Share this article One of Avatar's top installments is honored with a dedicated MTG special card drop. Usually, summary installments are disliked from viewers as a needless waste of time, or sometimes viewed as a requirement in television in the age of episodic releases. That wasn't always the case, but Avatar: The Last Airbender proved it through "The Ember Island Players," a popular episode in its last season that is now granted an exclusive Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair collection. Information regarding the Secret Lair The complete Secret Lair superdrop for the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender edition was unveiled recently. Containing five distinct sets, and even though a set named "My Cabbages!" is an admittedly humorous tribute to Avatar's beloved recurring figure, the remaining sets feel a bit uninspired, with one notable exception: "The Ember Island Players." Drawing from installment 17 in the final season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, this Secret Lair features the following cards: 1x Phantasmal Image represented as "Absolutely Accurate Actor" 1x Braid of Fire 1x Cursed Mirror 1x Mask of Memory 1x Thespian's Stage The reason this segment is special Viewers of the show warmly cherish this episode, which functioned as a recap of the hero Aang and the group's journey before the series' finale. Unlike other recap episodes, or retrospective segments, "The Ember Island Players" was not driven by budget restrictions or creative challenges. The show's makers genuinely intended to provide audiences a moment to recap the overall plot, but they decided to execute it with flair. In the episode, the crew watches a play based on their exploits in a theater on Ember Island, named The Boy in the Iceberg. The whole thing is factually incorrect, cheesy, and completely amusing. It succeeds as it plays on the characters' views about themselves, setting them against against how the world (and notably the Fire Nation) views them. It possesses the right amount of meta-commentary, and it ends up arguably the best adaptation of the show available to date. Value and pricing When it comes to cost-effectiveness, this represents an excellent Secret Lair for one simple reason: Braid of Fire. This card trades for $20 and $40 through card retailers currently, and at $29.99 you can snag the entire Secret Lair, or $39.99 for the foil version. Magic's Avatar: The Last Airbender set can be accessed for advance previews on Nov. 14 and debuts internationally on Nov. 21.
