Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important political figure said the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
