A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official conducted a ceremonial pardon event this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, donated by a local firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six-seven” – originating from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
